ABOUT DFW HUMANE SOCIETY
The DFW Humane Society is a no-kill, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to finding loving, permanent homes for homeless animals. Founded in 1967, the DFW Humane Society cares for anywhere between 80 and 100 animals at a time. The DFW Humane Society relies on donations from caring individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals.
Volunteer Opportunities
DFW Humane Society offers volunteer opportunities for qualified individuals. Upon completion of their Certified Volunteer Training class, volunteers may pursue any of the following projects:
- Socializing, walking, bathing and prodding general care to animals
- Participating in events, including adoption events with animals under DFW care
- Assisting customers
- Help with planning events such as garage sales, auctions, golf tournaments, walkathons, food drives, penny drives and more
- Performing art, graphics or computer tasks, or helping with clerical duties
- Visiting schools to teach pet care basics
- Conducting repair and / or maintenance work on the organization's building and lawn
Spay and Neuter Initiatives
The DFW Humane Society partners with many local veterinarians to provide a low cost way for people to spay and neuter their pets. Together, they provide low cost certificates that people can take to participating vets who perform the low cost spay or neuter. Certificate price is based on the weight of the animal at the time of surgery and does not include required vaccinations or blood work. Contact DFW Humane Society for more information. The DFW Humane Society's hours of operation are as follows:
- Monday and Tuesday: closed
- Wednesday - Friday: 11 am to 6 pm
- Saturday: 11 am to 5 pm
- Sunday: 12 pm to 5 pm
