ABOUT THE SAVE THE ANIMALS RESCUE SOCIETY (STARS)
STARS is a non-profit, all volunteer rescue organization dedicated to the well being of homeless animals. Once a dog or cat enters the STARS program, they are tracked for life. Because of this, STARS adopts only within the Dallas/Fort Worth area, so they can observe their 'alumni' as STARS call them, and can reclaim animals if necessary.
STARS states that most of their animals are death row survivors. STARS does not have a shelter, but instead relies on foster families to take care of animals until a permanent home is found.
Because STARS is a foster-based program, their central need is foster families. STARS points out that a single individual can make a true difference in the lives of dozens of animals a year through this system.
All STARS animals are examined by a vet, vaccinated, spayed / neutered, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, and vaccinated for diseases like Bordetella (kennel cough).
STARS holds Adopt-A-Pet events on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.
